We used to be moresecretive, but nowwe talk about all ourgreat initiatives.

How come you were interested in working for Soya Group? 

“I worked here before at Wallenius Marine 15 years ago but moved abroad with my family. On my return from New York, I felt that it would be nice to have something to do, since I had been a full-time mum in New York. So, I contacted HR and said, ‘I’m back’ and if they had any openings I’d like to return. And they said yes, so I started working again at the head office six months ago.” 

Is there a Soya Group spirit?

“Yes I think there is. What distinguishes SoyaGroup is that there are so many friendlypeople here to work with. I’d really liketo pay tribute to the ones recruiting theco-workers. People wanting to help andbeing happy and proud of what we do pervadesthe company.” 

What was your first day like? 

“I can’t remember my first day 15 yearsago, but when I returned, I remember thatI was invited to a very pleasant lunch withmy closest co-workers. I thought that wasso nice.”

What’s the most rewarding project youhave worked on? 

“I am working on a lot of interesting,yet secret projects as part of Soya Group’s90-year anniversary among other things.There are a lot of fun events coming up!”

What makes Soya Group different fromother workplaces? 

“The people. I think this is a verysociable workplace where we appreciatethe individual. You are not just someoneworking here – the company really caresabout us! What you do, and who you are isimportant. We have great benefits such asbeing able to work out during lunch andother initiatives to improve our well-being.” 

What are the biggest changes you haveseen during your career at Soya Group? 

“We used to be more secretive,but now we talk about all our great initiatives,such as our energy-efficient buildingsand the Oceanbird concept.” 

How important is sustainability inyour work? 

“I would say that we 100% practicewhat we preach.”

What cutting-edge technology do youuse in your work? 

“I previously worked at AlfaWallPureBallast, the ballast water treatment technologydeveloped by Wallenius Water andAlfa Laval. At Soya Group, we like to partnerwith the best in the business to achieve thebest possible solutions.”
